Technical Details

The distance between the foot of the sail and the deck is usually about 25 cm to 40 cm on the standard furling systems used on the deck.

The racing boats with furling systems have a special need to minimize the distance between the foot and the deck.

To fill that need the furling producers have developed and released the race furling systems. However in these new race furling systems, the genoa can only be entirely furled or unfurled; therefore it is not possible to reef and use the genoa in various sizes depending on the strength of the wind.

On the drum that rolls the furler, there is just one line of rope and when trying to reef, the rope slips back making it impossible to reef.

Admiral Marine Equipment has developed the Race&Reef Furling Systems that made it possible to:

1) Minimize the distance between the foot of the sail and the deck,

2) Reef and use the genoa in any size depending on the strength of the wind.
